Essie (Meaning: Star)

Essie and her Husband Jessie on the right, with relatives. Hello! The name of which I am going to blog about today is the name of one of my ancestors. Elsie Eliza "Essie" Pitts (Bountiful Oath of God's Hollow, Star) was born in Lander Wyoming in 1894... or 1896, or any year between the two. Rather confusing, yes? Essie, as she was nicknamed, is my  mysterious great-great grandmother. My family have been trying to crack the case of her burial site for quite a while now, and I have a mild interest in the subject. I have started looking through newspapers for her family. It has given me a little window into her life. Essie grew up in Lander, WY with her father Elijah (Meaning: My God is Yahweh), mother Jennie (Meaning: God is gracious), and sisters Myrtle (Meaning: Flowering Shrub) and Carrie (Meaning: Manly). She had an interesting young life. Her father was at first a sheepherder, then found gold on property that he inherited from a friend. But, as she grew older...

Hello! May is my favorite month, as I generally find April still a little too cold where I live. But now, Spring is in full swing! May is a month full of interesting things. I'm glad I do this blog, or I'd never know what May brings! The month celebrates May Day. A meteor shower appears in the sky at this time of the year, starting April 21, and ending on May 20. It's name? Eta Aquarids. (Meaning: Luminous  Water Bearer) The birthstone is Emerald. And, the flower of the month is a Lily of the Valley. I didn't know there were flowers for every month. May seems like a month destined for beauty. Once again, I will add only five names for each gender, starting with boys. May Names (For Boys) Arell  (Meaning: Light) Arell seems a graceful name to me. It is most likely a Latin name, but it could be an English, Polish, Romanian or Italian nickname for Aurelia. Like I said before, it sounds graceful to me, with two L's.
