Hello!

May is my favorite month, as I generally find April still a little too cold where I live. But now, Spring is in full swing! May is a month full of interesting things. I'm glad I do this blog, or I'd never know what May brings! The month celebrates May Day. A meteor shower appears in the sky at this time of the year, starting April 21, and ending on May 20. It's name? Eta Aquarids. (Meaning: Luminous Water Bearer) The birthstone is Emerald. And, the flower of the month is a Lily of the Valley. I didn't know there were flowers for every month. May seems like a month destined for beauty. Once again, I will add only five names for each gender, starting with boys.

Arell  (Meaning: Light)

Arell seems a graceful name to me. It is most likely a Latin name, but it could be an English, Polish, Romanian or Italian nickname for Aurelia. Like I said before, it sounds graceful to me, with two L's. The meaning of Arell is just as graceful, being "Light". I picked this name for May, because there is so much light that fills the month of May. I can imagine Arell's being smart, happy people who are successful in life. A famous Arell is Niklas (Meaning: Victory of the People) Arell. He is a Hockey player for a team named Malmo Redhawks from Sweden. Arell is a special name, one that is lesser known for no good reason.

Georg (Meaning: Works with the Earth)

Georg is a very unusual name, said like George (Meaning: Farmer), but with a different meaning that enriches the name for me. The name is a Greek nickname for George. I like it because it is an unusual name that sounds normal, not a combination I've found before this name. I picked it for May, because the planting that goes on this time of year, and all the growing done in the ground. I would not be surprised if Georg's frequent their garden, and that the garden would be beautiful. I bet Georg's care a lot about people too. I did a quick internet search, and found that all the Georg's I could find were from the black and white era. While the name may be a vintage work of art, Georg is a name for those today who still realize how important the earth is. It grows our crops, and gives us life. The Georg's of today recognize that importance, and I admire them for that.

Lunt (Meaning: Grove Dweller)

Lunt is an interesting name that I did not pick because of its sound. To me, it sounds like a name of a banker, but its meaning compelled me to put it on the list. Lunt is a name that many know from the Veggie Tales series through Mr. Lunt, a decorative gourd. There is obviously more to this name than decorative gourds though. The name Lunt means Grove Dweller, and is one of the many names that specify where that person lives. To be clear, the definition of grove is a small wood. To me groves are peaceful places, where the leaves of trees give shade to those who walk under their branches. I would believe people named Lunt are peaceful, and content. I wonder how many Lunt's live in groves today? I like the name of Lunt, for it is a strong name, but has a peaceful meaning.

Zvon (Meaning: Sound of Peace)

Zvon is a strange name that definitely is memorable. It is a Croatian name, coming from the shores of the Mediterranean. It gives me a start, but the name means Sound of Peace, a meaning I have not found in any other name. It is a beautifully descriptive meaning. I can imagine, if peace had a sound, it echoing in a mountain range. I believe that Zvon's are peaceful people, perhaps skilled negotiators. I am rarely so taken with a name, but Zvon interests me. I could not find anyone famous or not with the name Zvon, so I can't say anything about famous Zvons. I picked the name Zvon for May, because I doubt that I will ever meet one, and because I find May a peaceful month. I am content with the budding greens, and many flowers that bloom. May resonates with the sound of peace. I hope there are many happy people named Zvon, because it is a name with a meaning to be proud of.

Zoy (Meaning: Life Giving)

I have picked two names beginning with Z this month. Z is not a letter many associate with May, and I definitely don't. But, I like unusual names, and Zoy was one with a meaning that fits May. And indeed, May is life giving. As the sun's warmth takes hold, life blooms into an amazing specter of beauty. The color returns to the earth, and finally it isn't difficult to keep warm. Your, Zoy's, meaning is the embodiment of this wonderful month of May. I believe those with the name of Zoy are life givers to those around them. They constantly encourage, and empower the people they run across in life. They are the hope that reaches to those in need. I also hope that those Zoy's that read this are empowered to become the life givers they are.

Annika (Meaning: Gracious)

Annika is a beautiful name. I have always liked the names of Anna (Meaning: Gracious Beauty), Annabelle (Meaning: Graceful), and most names with Anna in them. They have a quiet grace about them, and Annika is an unusual take on the name of Anna. Annika is a name from Sweden, where my family comes from. I picked Annika for this month because May is full of grace. I wanted to celebrate this name this month, as no other month (Except December maybe) illustrates grace so much in my eyes. Annika is a strong name, in my opinion. I believe those who carry the name Annika through their lives will be happy. Gracious people who care about those around them should be admired. It is hard to be kind and understanding, and willing to listen to others. I respect those people, and I hope all the Annika's reading this are proud of themselves for the gracious person they are.  

Eta (Meaning: Luminous) 

Eta is not a name that is on this list because of a correlation to the physical month of May. No, she found her way here because of a beautiful happening that finds it way into the sky in early May. Eta means luminous, and therefore is deserving of the meteor shower called the Eta Aquarids. They follow the Halley's Comet around the solar system, showing up in early May. This year, they were slightly blocked by a bright moon, but the brightest ones shown out. I imagine that the Eta's of the world are that way too. They find a way to shine out, strong and true, when it is time to shine. The people named Eta that I could find were musicians, writers, and thinkers. They are bright. I believe Eta is a name for a genius. Those Eta's in the world are a beautiful work of art, earning their shining glory. With a name like Eta by your side, you are going to be a great person.

Oralie (Meaning: Light of Dawn)

This Native American name is beautiful in name and meaning, and I rarely find non-Native American names with meanings so descriptive. I picked this name for May, because after daylight savings, the days get longer, and instead of waking up to blackness, the world's fresh light floods through the windows. The world looks so much fresher in the morning, with dew on the grass, and the smell of a spring morning. I like the world when it's waking up. I imagine those Oralie's in the world are that way too. Beautiful, and as lovely as a new spring morning. I believe also that those with this name by their side are the first light into the dark world. I hope that never fades for them, and they will continue to shine for their entire life.

Rose (Meaning: Kind Fame)

Rose is a plain name for most, but its meaning is amazing. I celebrate this name because of the simple beauty surrounding it. I often am less impressed with names that are a plant but Rose's meaning makes it beautiful in a way that calls to me. It is a German variation of a longer name, Hrodheid (Kind Fame). Now, I found an interesting fact about the rose as a plant. Do you know where the Rose comes from? China! I would have guessed Europe. Many people with the name Rose today are actresses. I believe that the meaning of your name reflects who you are. Obviously, Rose is one of those names where it is easy to see. I hope the Rose' out there are kind in their fame, and are happy. Urania (Meaning: Universal Beauty)

Urania is a strong name with a strong meaning. When I look at this name, I see a leader. The name is yet another name from Greece. I put this name on this list because spring is universally beautiful. When spring comes, it inspires awe. I imagine Urania's are that way too. They are strong, able to bring many people together, able to inspire those who live around them. To the Urania's out there I just want to say keep on inspiring those around you. You are a new meaning for a name that is universally beautiful!
