Ian (Meaning; Gift from God)

Image
Hello! Today is the birthday of a friend of mine, Ian (Meaning; Gift of God). He is the only friend I have ever had that I've stayed friends with for my entire life (or at least what I can remember). We've been friends for about twelve years now. In that period, my family and I have moved four times. We actually moved across the state, but Ian still wrote to me. We finally moved back to the side of the state they still live in, and we got together a lot. I'm a shy person, but Ian never makes me feel shy. He has also followed me into some pretty wild and confusing ventures, and not complained once. Ian is a very smart person. He knows engineering really well, and in the course of our friendship, he is constantly coming up with many creative (and really cool!!!) gadgets, from lights powered by gravity, to drones that defy it. Ian is truly a gift from God. I could never have asked for a better friend. Ian (Meaning; Gift of God) is a Scottish name. It's the Scot...

Names For April

Image
Hello! April is the month unchangeably associated with spring. I love the spring personally. It is the brightest season of all, with Crocus and Daffodils blooming, the grass growing from the dull brown of winter to the lush green of spring. Also, it's the month of Easter, and whether you believe in the Easter Bunny or Jesus, it's a wonderful holiday (BTW: What's up with a rabbit carrying eggs all over the place?). There are many names I'd love to include for this month, but I will just stick to five for the boys, and five for the girls. April Names (For Boys) Jesus (Meaning: God Saves) Jesus is a name linked with April because of Easter. I like the name Jesus because of its meaning. God Saves is an incredible meaning, a message that you aren't afraid to honor God, or a higher power. Did you know that the name Jesus was not just made up for the Messiah? No, it was a name given to babies before the birth of Jesus. It's the Greek transla...

Sophie (Meaning; Wise)

Image
Hello Again! I wanted to talk about my first naming experience. Yes, I have named someone. I named my grandmother's dog. She is a little bundle of joy and energy, and her licking skills are legendary. She's  a Shih-tzu (Meaning; Loin)-Maltese (Meaning; From Malta) mix. We all love her and she loves us back. She literally sits at the window when her "mommy" leaves her, and doesn't stray far from it until her mom is home! She's a devoted little pup. Anyway, let's get back to when I named her. My grandmother loves dogs, and her two old ones, a German Shepherd and a Cocker Spaniel had just died. She had gone to pick out another dog, one that wasn't as big. They had their eyes on a breeder up north of town. They got a tiny little Shima and called us a few days later, wanting to know if we had any name ideas. So, get this, I looked at the picture and I thought about a Lego Friends character book. One of the names inside was Sophie (Meaning; Wise). So I s...

Maximilian (Meaning; Greatest in a Multitude.)

Hello.  I'm Maximilian M. (Meaning: Greatest in a Multitude). I'm a homeschooled sixteen-year-old, living in Spokane Washington. I live with my mother, my sister Madison (Meaning; Daughter of a Warrior), and Mason my younger brother (Meaning; One who works with Stone, and no, we didn't mean to have all M names).  I love names. To be more specific, I like to learn about their meanings. It's so fascinating to learn what we call ourselves every day. Names are our title, the way we stand out from every other person. We don't fully realize the importance of our names. Do you ever think twice when you say, "Hey, Robert, could you get me a-"? No, we don't. Our names are important. It is who we are. I've found that names are an insight into a person's soul. I was once was able to tell somebody's name before I was introduced. (I think he was named Brad. (Meaning; Broad Clearing)). Every name has a meaning. Every name counts. Every one...
