Sophie (Meaning; Wise)
Hello Again!
I wanted to talk about my first naming experience. Yes, I have named someone. I named my grandmother's dog. She is a little bundle of joy and energy, and her licking skills are legendary. She's a Shih-tzu (Meaning; Loin)-Maltese (Meaning; From Malta) mix. We all love her and she loves us back. She literally sits at the window when her "mommy" leaves her, and doesn't stray far from it until her mom is home! She's a devoted little pup.
Anyway, let's get back to when I named her. My grandmother loves dogs, and her two old ones, a German Shepherd and a Cocker Spaniel had just died. She had gone to pick out another dog, one that wasn't as big. They had their eyes on a breeder up north of town. They got a tiny little Shima and called us a few days later, wanting to know if we had any name ideas. So, get this, I looked at the picture and I thought about a Lego Friends character book. One of the names inside was Sophie (Meaning; Wise). So I suggested the name. And they choose it! I had named a dog! So that's how my grandmother's dog was named.
If I'm old enough to give baby naming advice, I will say that was no way to name anyone. "Oh! I saw this name on a road sign on the way over here! Why don't you name your kid that?" A little too random for me. The name does fit Sophie (Meaning; Wise) She is a smart little dog. She talks with other dogs in her neighborhood, and even starts up conversations. When she goes out, she will bark out a message to her friends and wait for them to respond, probably talking about how great the world is. Maybe she's a inspirational barker. She follows a strict schedule in the evenings, after a full day of inspirational barking, making sure she has a "Beauty Rub" on the couch.
I love Sophie, and can't imagine her named anything else. Actually, my mom met a dog at work that was the same breed as Sophie, and that little dog was named Sophie too!
Sophie is a Shih-Tzu, Maltese mix, as mentioned above. Well, we say she is a Shima (Shih-Tzu + Maltese). But, as it turns out most people call that mix a Mal-Shi (Maltese+ Shih-Tzu). I like Shima better, as it flows in a way I enjoy.
